PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 13, 2003--FLIR Systems, Inc.
(Nasdaq:FLIR) announced today that John D. Carter has been elected to
the Board of Directors for a term expiring at the Company's 2004
Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Carter becomes FLIR's seventh Board
member and sixth non-employee Director. Carter is a principal at Goldschmidt Imeson Carter, a
Portland-based consulting firm focused primarily on strategic planning
and problem solving for national and international businesses.
Previously, he was a member of the senior executive management team at
engineering and construction giant Bechtel Group, Inc. Carter joined
Bechtel in 1982 and served in a variety of senior management
capacities including Executive Vice President and Director of parent
company Bechtel Group, Inc. and President of Bechtel Enterprises,
Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary. Carter is a member of the Board of
Directors of Northwest Natural Gas Company (NYSE:NWN) and London &
Continental Railways Ltd. in the UK. He received his B.S. in history
from Stanford University and his juris doctor degree from Harvard Law
