FLIR Launches New Thermal Imaging Camera for Industrial Security; Receives Multi-Unit Order

PORTLAND, Ore., Oct 17, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- FLIR Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:FLIR) announced today that it has introduced a new line of thermal imaging cameras for the burgeoning US and international security market. The new ThermoVision® Security™ camera utilizes FLIR's world leading infrared technology to provide an economical solution to commercial and industrial security applications. Designed specifically for life and safety, security, and surveillance applications, this new infrared camera provides clear images in total darkness and through fog, dust and smoke -- conditions under which standard visible cameras or cameras with infrared illumination only typically fail.

The ThermoVision Security cameras are ideal for integration into new and existing video security networks. The small, weatherproof cameras connect in the same manner as conventional CCD cameras and provide the same video output. The cameras are available with a range of lens choices suitable for indoor, close-range applications to medium-range outdoor applications. Applications for the new product include industrial perimeter security, high value asset protection, warehouse surveillance and security for bridges, dams and harbors.
